Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek signs “Diversity Charter”

Dr. Pär Johansson, Managing Partner of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, today signed the “Diversity Charter” – a corporate initiative to promote diversity in companies and institutions. The core idea of the initiative, whose patron is German Chancellor Angela Merkel, is to promote diversity and appreciation of all employees regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or worldview, physical ability, age, sexual orientation, and identity.

“By signing the Charter, we are affirming what Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek has long practiced on a daily basis – respectful interaction with each other,” Johansson said at the signing ceremony. Even though the Diversity Charter is primarily an instrument of voluntary commitment, adhering to it should be understood as a demonstrative act. “In our law firm and within the scope of collaborating with our national and international clients, a wide variety of people, ages, legal cultures, and views are meeting,” Johansson added. “It is natural for us to approach others without prejudice and with respect.”

The Diversity Charter was launched by Daimler, BP Europa SE (formerly Deutsche BP), Deutsche Bank, and Deutsche Telekom in December 2006. More than 1,750 companies and public institutions have signed the Diversity Charter to date, with new signatories constantly being added. In 2010, the initiative became a non-profit organization and has been operated by Charta der Vielfalt e.V. since then.
