Georg Jacobs supports the transfer of rights to Thomas Kling works to Suhrkamp Verlag
Dr. Georg Jacobs, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, advised artist Ute Langanky, the wife of lyricist Thomas Kling, who passed away in 2005, on transferring the majority of the rights to Kling’s work. Thomas Kling was one of the leading German poets and received numerous awards, including the Else Lasker-Schüler Prize for Poetry. In 2011, arts and culture foundation Kunststiftung NRW, jointly with University of Bonn, established a Thomas Kling poetry lectureship.
The rights to his works have since been held by various publishers and in part by Hombroich Island Foundation. Publishing house Suhrkamp Verlag attempted to bundle these rights to his work to the largest extent possible. Dr. Georg Jacobs supported artist Ute Langanky in coordinating the relevant transfer of rights with Hombroich Island Foundation and Suhrkamp Verlag.
