Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek again gains large team: Eight-member team for Frankfurt and Zurich offices joining from Berger, Steck & Kollegen

Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek gains five new Partners in the fields of Banking, Investment Funds, Financing and Tax at its offices in Frankfurt and Zurich. As of October 1, 2013, Dr. Kai-Uwe Steck, Dr. Christoph Gringel and Michael Neises will join the Frankfurt office as Equity Partners and Jörn Matuszewski as Salaried Partner. In Zurich, Matthias Hertel will join as Equity Partner. Dr. Kai-Uwe Steck will additionally also work from the Zurich office.

In total, eight lawyers will move to Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek. The four Equity Partners will be joined by the Salaried Partner and three Associates.

The Senior Partner of the law firm of Berger, Steck & Kollegen, Dr. Hanno Berger, will not move to Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek. He has an extremely favorable view of the team's move and will himself take a sabbatical leave from active lawyering.

For Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, the additions at the financial centers of Frankfurt and Zurich are an excellent fit with its strategic concept. The fields of Banking, Investment Funds, Financing and Tax have already been expanded in Frankfurt and are further strengthened by the new team members. For Zurich, the addition means an extension of its advisory offering and a strengthening of the Swiss client base.

"We are pleased about the reinforcement, in particular in Frankfurt and Zurich, but we are also convinced that the peers altogether are an outstanding strategic reinforcement for our entire firm," said Dr. Andreas Urban, Managing Partner of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek.

Dr. Kai-Uwe Steck will work from the Frankfurt and Zurich offices. He has 13 years of professional experience and focuses on banking and banking supervision law, unit investment funds and private clients. In addition, he advises on insurance supervision law and was involved in numerous M&A transactions in the financial sector.

Michael Neises will be working from the Frankfurt office. He has more than twelve years of professional experience as lawyer and is also qualified as English solicitor.
He focuses on banking and capital market law and has advised on numerous successful IPOs and financing transactions. Michael Neises also advises on takeover and M&A transactions and accompanies funds in the scope of distressed assets and equity investments.

Dr. Christoph Gringel will be based in Frankfurt. The focus of his work lies in the field of investment funds and banking supervision law. In addition, he is also advising on insurance supervision and capital market law. He advises primarily investment management companies and other fund initiators on the launching, structuring and administration of investment assets including real estate funds, special funds, and hedge funds.

Matthias Hertel will fully work from the Zurich office. He has 15 years of professional experience. Hertel is lawyer, certified specialist lawyer for tax law and holds a degree in fiscal economics from a university of applied sciences. He focuses on advising private clients and trusts as well as on tax law.

Jörn Matuszewski, who is joining as Salaried Partner, is also a lawyer, certified specialist lawyer for tax law and holds a degree in fiscal economics from a university of applied sciences. He primarily advises in national and international tax law. He has been collaborating with his peers in Frankfurt since 2011 and will work out of the Frankfurt and Düsseldorf offices in the future.

Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek is thus continuing its expansion course that the firm has pursued for several years and is again gaining strong partners. Only earlier this year, in the spring, a large team from Orrick had joined Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek and has done an outstanding job of integrating into the firm since then. In particular for the Frankfurt office, which will relocate to new premises in the fall, the expansion that has started in the last few years is continuing. Seven external Partners have been added in Frankfurt since 2011.
