Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek helps bring MOMA to Essen
In 2006 the International Forum for Design and Architecture will for the first time take place under the name ENTRY 2006 (link to website). In this way the world heritage site "Zollverein" in the City of Essen has begun to develop into an economic and cultural fulcrum with empha-sis on "design." The exhibition company Zollverein, in which the State of North-Rhine Westphalia and the City of Essen participate indirectly, after a Europe-wide negotiation process, has named five curators who for 100 days - from August 26 to December 3, 2006 - will to-gether create an international exhibit for design and culture. The heart of the ENTRY2006 is the exhibit revolving around perspectives and visions in design and architecture in the newly opened former coal-wash station.
Among the curators will be well-known names such as Peter Reed, Museum of Modern Art in New York; Ellen Lupton, Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum; Francesca Ferguson, who presented the German pavilion at the Biennale; Alexander Vegesack of vitra, as well as Werner Lippert of the North-Rhine Westphalia Forum for Culture and Trade. The exhibits are financed by 11 million Euros in public EU grants. Dr. Ute Jasper has advised the exhibition company on contract award, and planned and carried out the contract-award process.
