Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek Provides Counsel on Establishing a University

Since the beginning of the year, Potsdam has a new privately sponsored State-recognized university: Business School Potsdam - University of Applied Sciences for Business and Health. On December 21, 2009 the Ministry for Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg issued to Business School Potsdam the preliminary recognition as private university of applied sciences with two locations, Campus Potsdam and Campus Neuruppin. Business School Potsdam started its academic program on January 12, 2010. University entrepreneur Ilona Renken-Olthoff, Hamburg, is shareholder of the sponsoring company.

Dr. Anke Fortmann of law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek provided counsel to the sponsoring company of Business School Potsdam and its management in establishing the university, in particular in designing and carrying out the State recognition procedure.

The University of Applied Sciences will have two departments, Business Management and Health Management. While the Business Management department already started its lectures with three Bachelor programs, the Health Management department is still to be set up later in the year.
 
In addition, management of Business School Potsdam intends to add Master programs to its existing study courses in the summer term of 2011, among others in business psychology.
