Advising Mackprang on sale of its shares to KTG Agrar

The commercial law firm of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advised the owners of the traditional Hamburg grain trading company Mackprang (C. Mackprang jr. GmbH & Co. KG) on the sale of its shares to Hamburg-based agricultural group KTG. The 136-year-long family history of the successful specialist for the importing and exporting of malting barley, bread cereals, canola meal, and other agricultural products ended in January 2015. Mackprang's most recent annual revenue stood at EUR 230 million.

With this step, KTG group intends to expand its expertise in grain trading and advance its expansion, particularly into Asia, thus continuing its successful history. Publicly traded KTG group ranks among Europe's largest agricultural companies. The family shareholders of Mackprang know that with this step their company, where all employees are taken over and which will continue its operations with its business partners as successfully as in the past, will be in the good hands of a company experienced in the agricultural sector and in grain trading. The Mackprang family was thus able to solve succession matters with a takeover that is mutually beneficial and future-oriented.
