Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH - Procurement of rail vehicles
Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (RNV) is a transport company that operates local public transport in the Rhine-Neckar area in the cities of Heidelberg, Mannheim, and Ludwigshafen am Rhein, as well as five railway lines connected to the meter-track light rail system.
The company intends to acquire 80 bogie vehicles as firm orders and up to 34 additional vehicles of the same design. The order comprises design, manufacture, and delivery with all associated ancillary and auxiliary services (including project planning, transport, commissioning and installation, training, and documentation) of new low-floor technology rail vehicles that are approved and ready for passenger operation in the RNV network. It also includes the telecommunications and IT equipment (hardware and software) required for operation in the RNV network, spare parts packages, and the necessary special tools.
A well-known company emerged as the winning bidder in the Europe-wide bidding procedure with prior public competition that had been held for this purpose.
The order volume was in the three-digit million euro range.
The advisory services were provided between July 2016 and June 2018.
