VRR award suburban train contract with Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek to DB Regio
Transport association Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) is acquiring 48 suburban trains for the S1 and S4 lines from DB Regio AG. DB Regio will maintain and service the trains for 15 years. A call for bids for train operations is scheduled for the second quarter of 2016.
DB Regio was awarded the contract for the sale of used vehicles and subsequent maintenance and service for up to 20 years. "We are pleased to see that DB Regio is now also convinced of the benefits of RRX model," said Dr. Ute Jasper, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek. "This will serve to ensure a high quality standard for used vehicles."
"The application of the RRX model to used vehicles enables much greater competition among operators and allows the previous operators to sell their vehicles," said Dr. Christopher Marx, a specialist for the RRX contracts in Jasper's team.
