Conference on the “Turning Point” in Bundeswehr Procurement - HEUKING also present for the second year

On May 7 and 8, 2024, the “Defense Procurement Day” (DPD) took place on the “Turning Point” in defence procurement. The conference in Bonn is the largest and most important of its kind in Germany. For the second time in a row, “Behörden Spiegel” brought together executives from the military, administration and industry to discuss challenges and solutions for national defence procurement.

In 2023, the focus was on ways to speed up the procurement process. In addition to the “Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw)”, the British “Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S)”, the French “Direction générale de l'armement (DGA)”, Armasuisse, the “NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA)” and the “Joint Organization for Armaments Cooperation (OCCAR)” provided insights into their armaments organization.

This year's conference was dedicated to the “Time factor in the run-up to awarding contracts”. Together with industry representatives, procurement and strategy experts and scientists, the focus was on the national requirements planning process. The core input was provided by the Planning Department of the Federal Ministry of Defense.

HEUKING was represented by procurement lawyer and reserve officer Marc Philip Greitens. Together with Benjamin Bauer and retired Major General Reinhard Wolski from Behörden Spiegel, Greitens initiated the event and acted as moderator in the program.

“I am proud to be able to contribute my strengths as a public procurement lawyer and expert on Bundeswehr structures in this way,” says Marc Philip Greitens
