Heuking advises on the sale of PETCYCLE and LOGICYCLE to Genossenschaft Deutscher Brunnen
A team led by Dr. Rainer Herschlein, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, advised PETCYCLE E.A.G. GmbH & Co. KG on the sale of PETCYCLE GmbH and LOGICYCLE GmbH to Genossenschaft Deutscher Brunnen e.G. (GDB). The transaction will bundle know-how and expertise in packaging and create synergies. Both companies’ employees will be retained.
PETCYCLE GmbH operates closed, sustainable material cycles for PET beverage bottles. At almost 1.1 billion fillings and a market share of about eight percent, PETCYCLE holds a key position in the market for mineral water and soft drinks. PETCYCLE bottles are 100 percent recyclable. The company was founded by several medium-sized beverage producers in 1999.
With 180 member companies, Genossenschaft Deutscher Brunnen e.G. is the purchasing and service organization of the German mineral springs. In 2019, GDB generated sales of some EUR 160 million. In addition to sales activities, its tasks include managing the reusable pools of German mineral springs. Currently, about every third bottle in the mineral water market is a reusable bottle from GDB.
