Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek Project: Rhein-Ruhr-Express tender issued
Rhein-Ruhr-Express (RRX) - the new premium product in local public transport - enters its implementation phase. The public notice for the European-wide tender was published. The EUR 4 billion project is the largest railway project in North Rhine-Westphalia and at the same time in Germany. The RRX lines will connect all urban centers of North Rhine-Westphalia as well as the cities of Koblenz (Rhineland-Palatinate) and Kassel (Hesse). Intervals will be substantially shorter and connections will improve. Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek designed the bid and is advising on the negotiations.
"We are very pleased about the first step toward Rhein-Ruhr-Express. Due to the innovative bid and contract design, we are expecting more favorable prices and better railway cars for the passengers," said Dr. Ute Jasper, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek.
Starting from 2018, the new RRX trains will be running. The contract design co-developed by Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek is new: A manufacturer is required that will not only supply the vehicles, but will also assume maintenance for 30 years.
