With HEUKING, NWL takes over eurobahn to ensure stability of the service
A HEUKING team led by Dr. Ute Jasper and Dr. Christopher Marx has provided legal advice to the Zweckverband Nahverkehr Westfalen-Lippe (NWL) on the temporary takeover of eurobahn GmbH & Co. KG for a symbolic euro. The takeover is intended to guarantee the continued existence of the company and jobs and stabilize operations. By 2027, the profitability of eurobahn is to be restored and then sold.
The Zweckverband Nahverkehr Westfalen-Lippe (NWL), founded in January 2008, is a public transport authority based in Unna. The NWL organises and finances local rail passenger transport (SPNV) in Westphalia-Lippe, including the regions of Münsterland, Ostwestfalen-Lippe, South Westphalia and the Sauerland. It comprises 206 cities and municipalities and manages a route network of 1793 km in length. The focus of the NWL is on maintaining a reliable and efficient local transport system.
