LOTTO Hamburg concludes its first in-house collective agreement with support from HEUKING
On November 27, 2024, LOTTO Hamburg GmbH finalized a comprehensive in-house collective agreement with trade union Vereinigte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft (ver.di) after months of negotiations.
General Manager Torsten Meinberg expressed his satisfaction: "With this collective agreement, LOTTO Hamburg is opening a new chapter in the company's history. We now have an agreement tailored specifically to our needs as a lottery company."
HEUKING supported the company throughout the wage dispute, which began with negotiations on an emergency service agreement and involved a legal dispute. In April, HEUKING successfully represented the company before Hamburg Labor Court, resulting in an interim injunction prohibiting a union warning strike.
The negotiations, led by HEUKING lawyers Timo Trefzger and Dr. Lukas Zietlow, have now concluded.
Trefzger reflected: "The negotiations were challenging and complex, as we had to create an entirely new set of rules, including a collective framework agreement. However, thanks to the excellent collaboration with General Managers Torsten Meinberg and Michael Heinrich, we were able to accomplish this in a relatively short period."
LOTTO Hamburg believes it is well-positioned for the future.
Dr. Lukas Zietlow added: "We succeeded in establishing a legally secure framework for LOTTO Hamburg's complex future tasks. This required amendments to all reference clauses in the employment contracts, and ultimately, we were able to gain the union's support for this project."
