PEKING in new splendor
Hamburg’s four-master PEKING, which last year returned to its home port with great fanfare after two years of restoration (for more information, see here), is now also adequately staged with lighting effects. Each of the lovingly restored details, including the historic chart house, the original rigging, and the restored crew quarters inside the ship are professionally illuminated allowing visitors to fully imagine the world of saltpeter shipping in the 1920s.
A team led by Dr. Martin Schellenberg, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, invited bids on behalf of Historic Museums Hamburg Foundation. The contract was awarded to an ERCO lighting concept. With its warm white spotlights, it harmonizes beautifully with the elaborately crafted wooden floorboards of the interiors.
