Procurement Conference Berlin: Ute Jasper on expedited procurement procedures for asylum seekers' accommodations

The 17th Procurement Conference to be held in Berlin on September 24 and 25, 2015 will also be a venue to discuss challenges faced by cities and municipalities in association with the large number of asylum seekers in Germany.

On the first conference day, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Dr. Ute Jasper, Partner at the Düsseldorf office of commercial law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, will host a forum entitled "Expedited action – sustainable procurement: How can purchasing and logistics assist in solving the refugee problem?"

In the round hosted by Jasper, Prof. Dr. Silke Bustamante, Berlin School of Economics and Law, Lutz Leide, Federal Institute for Real Estate Management, Michael Küpper, Regional Office for Health and Social Affairs Berlin, and Dr. Kay Ruge, German County Association, will discuss specific short-term and long-term solutions for housing, care, support, and integration of asylum seekers.

More than 300 decision-makers from federal, state, and local authorities as well as representatives of the business, consulting, and science sectors are expected to attend the conference dealing with public procurement law, process optimization in purchasing and logistics, and e-procurement for governments. In addition to the forums, attendees are sharing opinions on national and international developments and trends in plenums, workshops, or exhibitions. This year's inauguration speeches will be held by Parliamentary State Secretaries Uwe Beckmeyer (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy) and Florian Pronold (Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building, and Nuclear Safety).
