Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advises CPI on developing an e-book sales concept
Dominik Eickemeier, Partner and IP expert at commercial law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, developed the legal basis for an offering in the area of electronic book sales for internationally operating leading book service provider CPI GmbH.
It will allow the publishing houses that are already collaborating with CPI in the printing business to sell their publications also as e-books on several platforms. In this way, CPI intends to expand its business in the digital arena. Jointly with external service providers, the company will create and sell e-books, including invoicing and reporting. The e-books are sold on more than 70 platforms, such as amazon, Apple, Ciando, bol and the e-book offering of the Exchange Association of the German Book Trade, "Libreka."
CPI consists of Clausen & Bosse in Leck, Ebner & Spiegel in Ulm, Moravia Books in Pohorelice, Czech Republic and buchbücher.de in Birkach. The company works for some 600 publishing houses and companies from trade and industry, produces books of up to one million copies and also offers electronic services associated with books.
CPI GmbH has been advised for a long time, particularly in terms of corporate law, by Dr. Jörg Schewe, Partner at the Hamburg office.
