Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek successful in EU merger control proceedings on behalf of Possehl: Possehl acquires Cookson Precious Metals
Lübeck-based Possehl Group acquired UK company Cookson Precious Metals. Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advised Possehl Group under antitrust law and obtained antitrust approval before the European Commission. The seller was UK-based Vesuvius plc. The European Commission announced the approval of the transaction at the end of May 2013.
Possehl is a diversified group, operating worldwide with about 130 subsidiaries in more than 30 countries. With its Pforzheim-based subsidiary Heimerle + Meule GmbH, Possehl has been actively involved in the precious metals industry for over 50 years.
Cookson Precious Metals is a leading supplier for the European jewelry industry and maintains a presence in five countries with its subsidiaries in France (Cookson-CLAL), Spain (Sempsa), the UK (Cookson Precious Metals), the Netherlands (Cookson Drijfhout), and Portugal (Koutadly). Possehl substantially expands its precious metals business with the acquisition of Cookson Precious Metals.
