Regiobahnen in North-Rhine Westphalia clearly more economical with support of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek
In North-Rhine Westphalia, two RE networks were newly awarded. The carriers were able to save millions of euro, with one of the reasons being the vehicle financing co-developed by Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek. Altogether, they achieved savings of about EUR 18 million per year compared with economy reviews carried out prior.
"Since the introduction of the VRR financing model, the positive effects have been convincing over and again. Where there was often only one bidder previously, today six bidders are taking part in the procedure. And as we all know, fair competition provides for good prices," said Dr. Ute Jasper, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, who developed the financing model jointly with Dr. Kristina Neven Daroussis.
Abellio Rail NRW GmbH will operate the Lower Rhine Network, RE 33 (Wesel - Mönchengladbach) and RB 35 (Emmerich - Düsseldorf) starting from December 2016. Lines RE 7 (Rheine - Krefeld) and RB 48 (Wuppertal - Bonn-Mehlem) will be operated by the bidding consortium of National Express Rail GmbH / IntEgro Verkehr GmbH starting from December 2015.
