RheinEnergie opens new administrative building advertised for bids by Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek
With numerous VIPs from Rhineland's business, political, and cultural sectors in attendance, the management board of regional energy supplier RheinEnergie opened its new administrative building at Parkgürtel in Cologne's Ehrenfeld district on June 13. The ecologically extremely innovative building offers room for the energy supplier's 1,900 employees and some city-owned companies. Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advised RheinEnergie from 2008 to 2011 on the advertisement for bids of the building.
During the planning stage, RheinEnergie particularly focused on sustainability, leading to the building already receiving a gold certificate prior to the beginning of construction from the German Association for Sustainable Construction (DGNB). The representative building fulfills all requirements of an attractive workplace: In addition to the office space, it also features additional amenities, such as a company restaurant and bistro, a mini-market, a laundry service, a massage salon, and childcare facilities.
According to the information by the management board, it was also possible to keep cost within the EUR 140 million budget as scheduled. "The example of the RheinEnergie administrative building demonstrates how important a well-structured bidding procedure is for keeping deadlines and containing cost," said Ute Jasper, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, which advised RheinEnergie during the advertisement for bids of the building.
