Ute Jasper in WDR 5 live TV broadcast "Tihange nuclear power plant – What to do about the ticking time bomb?"
As legal advisor to the Aachen City Region, Ute Jasper participated in a live broadcast of WDR 5 episode “Stadtgespräch“ in Aachen on April 21, 2016. She responded to questions on the pending litigation against the Tihange 1 and 2 nuclear power plants and on the further proceeding.
The deeply divisive topic of “Tihange nuclear power plant – What to do about the ticking time bomb?” was discussed with guests in the studio, including Jörg Schellenberg (Aachen Alliance against Nuclear Energy), Oliver Paasch (German Community Minister President, Belgium), and Sabine Verheyen (Member of the European Parliament, European People’s Party). The discussion was hosted by Mr. Koch and Mr. Winkert.
Ute Jasper commented: “We support Aachen City Region and meanwhile more than 60 municipalities from three countries against the Belgian Tihange nuclear power plant. It is uncertain whether we will succeed with legal measures since it is a precedent, but the odds are so good that reasonably we should not let it pass by. This is also the view of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which meanwhile has joined the actions taken by the City Region.”
