HEUKING advises Thalia on acquisition of buecher.de and Weltbild customers
A HEUKING team, led by Dr. Philip Kempermann, advised Thalia Bücher GmbH on the acquisition of business operations of buecher.de as well as Weltbild customers out of insolvency proceedings.
Through this acquisition, buecher.de customers are able to continue using their accounts seamlessly. Additionally, both buecher.de and Weltbild customers will retain access to their purchased tolino ebooks via the tolino cloud, even after Weltbild ceased operations and buecher.de GmbH & Co. KG entered insolvency.
HEUKING comprehensively advised on all data protection matters related to the transfer of customer data. Specifically, HEUKING structured the data migration process and ensured customers were appropriately informed. This required close collaboration with the customer support teams of the two online stores, Thalia, and their respective technology teams. In addition, the requirements of the insolvency proceedings were carefully respected to prevent any operational risks during the transition, ensuring a smooth migration.
This approach enabled uninterrupted service to customers once the transaction received approval from the Federal Cartel Office.
