In the referendum held in the United Kingdom on June 23, 2016, a majority voted for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) to leave the European Union (EU). Brexit, however, will only become a reality at the end of a negotiating process that is set to last a minimum of two years. This is how long it is expected to take to arrange future legal relationships between the UK and the EU.
