Rhein-Ruhr-Express becoming concrete - Transport Minister signs contract in principle
Finally, the billion euro project of a Rhine Ruhr Express (RRX) has been greenlighted. Transport minister Groschek and the North Rhine-Westphalia transport associations signed the contract in principle on realizing the RRX. Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek supports the transport providers on this premium project in rail transport. Now, the path has been cleared for North Rhine-Westphalia's most important railroad project.
"We are very pleased about the progress with Rhein-Ruhr-Express. The contract and award model will lead to more economical pricing and thus to better comfort for the passengers," said Dr. Ute Jasper, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek.
In 2018, the new double-decker trains are to run on the RE 1, RE 4, RE 5, RE 6 and RH 11 lines in preparation of the RRX. A manufacturer is sought that will not only supply the vehicles, but will also assume maintenance over the entire life cycle of 30 years. For this purpose, Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek is developing a new bidding concept jointly with the North Rhine-Westphalia transport providers.
