Seminar "Global Patent Updates" focuses on global developments in patent law - Patent lawyers from all over the world are discussing in and about Düsseldorf
In December of last year, it was decided by the European Parliament and approved by the European Council to introduce an EU patent and to establish a Unified Patent Court. Now, 24 European Union Member states signed an Agreement on a Unified Patent Court. The court will have its seat in Paris, with thematic sections in London and Munich. What will be the effects on the currently most important patent court venue of Düsseldorf? Will the EU patent be generally accepted from the beginning on? These developments and issues are currently the focus of debates of patent law experts worldwide and will therefore be in the center of the public seminar "Global Patent Updates" held at the offices of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek on April 18, 2013.
The seminar organized by commercial law firm Heuking Lüer Wojtek and the World Services Group (WSG) will take place as part of the "2nd WSG Patent Law Workshop." Patent law experts from 23 countries will meet in Düsseldorf. "The discussion about the new EU patent is very important. In addition, we will review patent law developments in Switzerland, Russia and the USA in this seminar," said Dr. Anton Horn, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek in Düsseldorf, who initiated of the seminar.
Mathieu Klos, patent law expert of JUVE, the nationwide publishing house for legal information, will hold the opening address: "In Mathieu Klos, we were able to gain a very experienced journalist as speaker, who has observed the developments on the lawyer market, particularly in the field of patent law, in great detail for years," Horn was pleased to note. In his lecture, he will among other things highlight the issue whether the European changes could threaten Düsseldorf's worldwide leading role in patent law proceedings. The results of the seminar and participants' questions can afterwards be discussed with the lecturers and the partners of the law firms present.
