Deleplanque and SUET jointly acquire German seed company Strube
Deleplanque & Compagnie SA (Maisons-Laffitte, France) and SUET Saat- und Erntetechnik GmbH (Eschwege, Germany) acquired 60 percent (Deleplanque) and 40 percent (SUET) respectively of German Strube group. The acquisition was in part effected by taking over the main assets (transferring restructuring) as part of the ongoing self-management of the assets of Strube GmbH & Co. KG and in part through the acquisition of the other major companies of Strube group from a trust company. Deleplanque & Compagnie SA was comprehensively advised on the transaction by a multi-office team of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek led by Munich-based partner Dr. Stephan Degen on all issues related to German law.
Strube is internationally recognized for its expertise in plant breeding and processing of sugar beet, wheat, sunflower, and vegetable seeds (peas and sweet corn). With 15 branches and local trading partners, Strube currently markets more than 250 varieties in 35 countries. Crevenue amounted to about EUR 113 million in 2017. The company employs approximately 350 people.
Deleplanque is an independent French seed company, which employs 50 people and generates revenue of some EUR 50 million. The majority of the company's capital is held by the Deleplanque family and its employees, as well as by Unigrains, a specialist investor in the agricultural and food sectors.
SUET Saat- und Erntetechnik GmbH is a medium-sized, independent family business that has been processing high-quality seeds of all kinds on behalf of many breeders for 70 years. The company employs 150 people and generates revenue of some EUR 30 million.
