Heuking advises Next Big Thing AG on the formation of joint venture ZERO defects

A team led by Ariane Neubauer, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek’s Berlin office, comprehensively advised Next Big Thing AG (NBT) on the formation of a joint venture in process optimization.

Berlin-based venture studio Next Big Thing AG (NBT), jointly with about ZERO, spun off a joint venture for full process assurance: ZERO defects. With the help of platform-supported and cloud-based apps, ZERO defects enables process optimization to reduce defects in production (zero-defect production). Manufacturing companies can move step-by-step towards zero-defect production, in this way increasing their competitiveness and reducing costs.

The two shareholders NBT and about ZERO create optimal synergies for ZERO defects: as a venture studio, NBT provides extensive experience in company building of B2B IoT companies. It also contributes capital and the skillset as well as the toolkit required by a young company. NBT acts as an investor, but also contributes industry expertise and access to a global network. Joint venture partner about ZERO offers decades of experience in quality management software. It was in this environment that the concept of ZERO defects was developed and has already been used by customers and tested on a long-term basis.

Ariane Neubauer and her team regularly advise NBT and its ventures on various legal issues, in particular relating to corporate law, employment law, and IT law. In the summer of this year, a Heuking team advised NBT on its EUR 19 million Series B financing round.
