Heuking assists social startup talking hands in seed funding round
Shimon Merkel and Ariane Neubauer of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek’s Berlin office advised talking hands flipbooks GmbH (“talking hands”), a social startup from the inclusion tech sector, on its seed funding round.
talking hands produces learning materials to popularize sign language in the form of small films in flipbooks, which are primarily used in educational institutions such as daycare centers and elementary schools, thus promoting communication opportunities for children with disabilities.
Former editor-in-chief of WELT group and current managing shareholder of hy – Axel Springer Consulting Group Christoph Keese, founder and CEO of Viennese tech unicorn Bitpanda Eric Demuth, founders of Emma Matratzen Dr. Dennis Schmoltzi and Manuel Müller, and founder and CEO of Tiana GmbH Ilknur Gur participated in talking hands’ seed funding.
talking hands had recently attracted attention in the VOX TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen” [“The Lion’s Den”], in which the two founders Maria Möller and Laura Mohn won orders from the “lions.” The startup and its founders were recognized as Cultural and Creative Pilots by the German government, won the Frankfurt Startup Award, the Future Award, the Hesse Ideas Competition, the Generation-D Competition, and were awarded by the German Designer Club and the Art Directors Club.
Proceeds from the funding round will be used to expand the team, broaden the product portfolio, and expand into other EU member states.
