Swift Conjoy GmbH acquires Frankfurt-Hahn Airport assisted by Heuking
A Frankfurt-based team led by Daniel Froesch, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, supported in insolvency law in cross-office collaboration by the Munich-based Restructuring team led by Prof. Dr. Georg Streit, advised Swift Conjoy GmbH on the acquisition of Frankfurt-Hahn Airport in a bidding process. The acquisition comprised the entire airport operations including real estate and all assets from several insolvency proceedings. All employees will be taken over.
Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is Germany’s sixth most important airport for air cargo and is also an important airport for passengers, especially for Ryanair. In the wake of the corona pandemic, the companies operating Frankfurt-Hahn Airport had filed for insolvency in October 2021. In the meantime, more planes are taking off from Frankfurt-Hahn again. The airport in the middle of Germany’s Hunsrück region employs more than 400 people.
Swift Conjoy GmbH, based in Frankfurt, is a joint venture. The Frankfurt-based Swift Group and the English company Conjoy Investment Partners are involved. Swift Conjoy intends to continue to operate and to extensively expand passenger and cargo operations at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, including investments and the creation of new jobs in the region.
Heuking lawyers led by Froesch extensively advised Swift Conjoy GmbH on the complex deal. A large and regulated infrastructure asset was acquired in an auction process with “bidder showdown” immediately prior to notarization at the notary.
